  16. *Conferences:
  17. It is mandatory that all hubs and nodes carry the following conferences.
  18. -LAKECHAT
  19. -LAKESYS
  20.  
  21. If you wish to add a conference to LakeNet you are required to have
  22. support from at least 4 other boards including 1 hub. Also the HOST
  23. must be able to carry the conference as it will be available to all
  24. nodes in the net.
  25.  
  26. UU files, XX files or other file transfers are not allowed via LakeNet
  27. at this time.
  28.  
  29.  
  30. *Access:
  31. There will be no charge for any board to carry LakeNet at any time 
  32. including telephone expenses except in the case of satellite feed or
  33. Internet gateway.
  34.  
  35. If a hub wishes to not offer access to any bbs they are not required to
  36. provide this service.
  37.  
  38. Authorization to carry the net is required from the the HOST of LakeNet
  39. before any bulletin board system can carry the net.
  40.  
  41. Access to LakeNet can be removed if it is felt that a bulletin board
  42. system is not enforcing the net policy.
  43.  
  44. *Minimum Connection Required
  45. Boards are required to connect to LakeNet at least once a week. If a board
  46. is having problems with connection and notifies the host they can delay 
  47. connection for 3 months maximum but after that point they are considered
  48. to have abandonded the net and must reapply to be part of LakeNet.

  50. New boards which apply to connect to LakeNet must connect within 1 month of
  51. applying or they will have to reapply to join the net with reasons for not
  52. connecting earlier.
  53.  
  54. *Language:
  55. Abusive language will be kept a minimun in all conferences and personal 
  56. attacks will not be tolerated for any reason.
  57.  
  58. English is the offical language of the net.
  59.  
  60. *Privacy:
  61. At no time will privacy be guaranteed. Any user with the proper security
  62. level can read all message. It is understood that sysops and people involved
  63. in the transfer of mail may read any message.

  66. *Alias / Handles:
  67. Real names are required in LakeNet alias names are not allowed.
  68.  
  69. A handy utility is offered for download from Showcom Online called QWKALIAS
  70. that will convert alias name to real names in any QWK or REP pack.

  73. *Moderators:
  74. Moderators have the authority to restrict access of any user from access to
  75. LakeNet for a maximum of 30 days at one time.
  76.  
  77. It is up to the moderator to decide if any message is off topic and to contact
  78. the bbs user that wrote the message as well as the sysop of the bbs that any 
  79. offending message originated from.
  80.  
  81. The moderator can apply to the HOST to ban a user from the net however it would
  82. be in the best interest of all to work the problem out if possible before it
  83. reachs this stage.

  85. In all cases if the moderator is not available the HOST should be contacted.
  86.  
  87. *Complaints:
  88. All users that have a complaint other then the ones covered by the moderator
  89. should send a message to their sysop. If the sysop feels that it is a matter
  90. regarding another board they can send a message to the HOST.
  91.  
  92. *Promotion & Advertising:
  93. Software piracy and Adult Only material can at no time be advertised or
  94. promoted in any way in any conference of LakeNet.
  95.  
  96. No "FAST CASH" messages or chain mail letters will be allowed at any time.
  97.  
  98. Business advertisements is not allowed at this time.

  100. *Gate Mail/Cross Post
  101. At this time LakeNet has authorized a mail gateway to GT Power Network only
  102. if you would like to pass traffic from another net to LakeNet other then the
  103. occassional posting of bulletins that would be of interest to all it would
  104. be required that LakeNet have an agreement with the other net in place BEFORE
  105. any mail transfer can begin.

  114. LakeNet Policy.
